Using an Elmo, enlarging the adjective chart on a white board is a fun way to introduce: shape, size, sensory, condition and color adjectives to describe nouns (in this example -snakes). Activity is engaging, visible to all students, and supports teacher modeling and student participation. Students placed the hand magnets on the image displayed on the white board to show the different types of adjectives. For example, the first student identified the category sensory adjective and placed the blue hand on that category. Four more volunteers found the remaining categories. This was followed with a category sort and a writing activity. This post provides the templates to complete 3 activities for the nouns: snakes, porcupines, turtles, pancakes, peaches, lakes and jump ropes.
