Holiday Fun!

What does a squash, pumpkin and a bag have in common? Halloween - We bought a squash that became a sugar skull, a pumpkin that became Dracula and a bag that became a hand full of candy! Happy Halloween. The squash was created with stickers and black duck tape. The pumpkin was created using green paint and black duck tape and white stickers for the teeth. Thinking Outside the Box of Cards
Kids love these Jumbo Cards and I love their enthusiasm when they practice addition with them!
Yes, they are jumbo as shown by the ruler.  The cards measure  ten and a half  inches long.
This station was set up with a 4, 9 and 7 which equals 20.
Students then work together in groups  to make different combinations of 20 with the remaining deck of jumbo cards.

Just Chilling - Practicing Multiples of 8

Octad is a fun spider with 8 legs.  He is going to help us practice multiples of 8.

Introduction to multiples of 8.  Octad is one spider with 8 legs (1 X 8 = 8)

He began his journey alone - one spider with eight legs.  He then met a friend.  The two of them had 16 legs.  Next, Octad met another friend.  All together they had 24 legs ( 8+8+8 = 24).

He met another friend (8+8+8+8 = 32).

We are making water bottle labels and
choosing adjectives that describe our fun labels:   Pumpkins, Ghosts, Vampires, Bats and Cats Labels and Adjectives

Ghosts are friendly, happy, gleeful, cheerful, joyful and smiling.  Two other labels are included - (1) create your own adjectives with students (3) open ended.
