First Grade Common Word Families - Printable Resources

The expectation is that students know 16 out of 18 Word Families with fluency by the end of first grade.  They consist of short vowels, long vowels  and r-controlled vowels.  This post provides a printable reference chart to slide into students' homework folders that display these word families.  In addition short word vowel family activities are included in this post.   They are: reading words, reading words in sentences, writing words in sentences and putting cut-up sentences in order.  These activities are  provided for all eight short vowel word families.
