Break Through Reading Limitations

Knowledge of short vowel sounds is essential in learning to read words.  This post provides several activities to help children with practice and retention of these sounds.
 
Below are several CVC words. Answer sheet is available at end of post.  Have children fill in the blanks with different vowels to make different words.  Reference the chart provided above to help children differentiate and learn the different short vowel sounds.   Next,  have them apply learned vowel sounds to complete practice pages.
