Long /e/ Sound ea Pattern Words and Adjectives!

These are fun lessons with two objectives -  (1) practicing ea vowels that make the long e sound
(2) sorting adjectives that describe the /ea/ pattern words: ice-cream, pea, peach, tea, bean
and meatball.   Below is the First Sorting Activity
Student Practice Paper
Using a pocket chart, have children pull adjective cards from a paper bag and place them in the pocket chart under the correct ea pattern word.  As more students place adjectives under words, adjectives incorrectly placed will need to be moved to place the correct adjectives in those  spaces.

Building Sentences

We are writing a lot this year and I introduced the ending - ay to them.  We listed words on the chart that ended with -ay and then wrote the words listed onto index cards with additional known words to make sentences.  We sorted the words (beginning middle and ending) according to where they would appear in a sentence.  Words with a capital letter would appear first, those with a period or question mark would be at the end of a sentence.  All other words would appear in the middle of a sentence.  Next, we organized the words into sentences. #buildingsentences
