Identifying beginning sounds b, f, h, k, l, s, t, w, soft c, and soft g.

Individual - Small Group, Quick Review/Assessment  - Differentiating Beginning Sounds: B, F, H, K, L, S, T, W, Soft C and Soft G.  Kids love the colorful pictures.  Place the practice pages in plastic sleeves purchased at the dollar store and have children circle the words that start with the letter/sound.  Begin by having children make the sound, soft c, and then say each picture: centipede, cat, celery, cent, cow, corn, cereal, cup, crayons and cereal.  Next, have children circle the pictures that began with the letter/sound soft c.  It is suggested to begin the activity with practice page B ,
/ B / sound    Pictures: book, ball, butterfly, bear, wagon, bird, walrus, baby and whale
/F/ sound  Pictures: flag, fish, farm, wagon, whistle, frog, whale, flower and watch
/H/ sound   Pictures: house, helicopter, hula-hoop, rocket, hopscotch, ring, hippopotamus, heart and rooster
/K/ sound  Pictures: key, violin, vase, kite, kangaroo, kitten, vacuum, koala and volcano  
/L/ sound   Pictures: light bulb, paintbrushes, popcorn, lion, paint, ladder, lunchbox, lemon, porcupine
/S/ sound  Pictures: snowman, star, seal, sun, ball, baby, strawberry, book, swings
/T/ sound      Pictures: tree, ten, taco, dog, drum, doughnut, door, two, tractor
/W/ sound      Pictures: wagon, doughnut, wind, windmill, walrus, dog, door and whale
Soft /c/ sound    Pictures: centipede, cat, celery, cent, cow, corn, crayons, cereal and cup
Soft /G/ sound     Pictures: gorilla, giant, grapes, gingerbread man, giraffe, goose, glove and gate
