Long /a/ Vowel Words, Illustrations and Magnetic Letters

Examples projected on the white board include long a vowel patterns: a __ e, /ai/ and /ay/. Student volunteers place the correct magnetic consonant letters in the correct spaces to spell the long a vowel word illustrated.  The first example is a cake.  The letters a and e are written on the white board with an orange cardboard rectangle placed in  the middle of the vowels.
Another option is to project the resource sample on the board and have students place the magnetic letters in the correct positions to make the words.  Free printable of this resource is available on this post.
