Learning the Inflected Ending ___ed: /d/, /t/, /ed/

Meet Deena and Dean Word Detectives!  This week they helped us with the inflected ending  ___ed.
In reading with first grade students, I noticed that they were adding the /ed/ sound to all words ending with ed. They didn't differentiate words according to the /d/, /t/, and /ed/ sounds.  Since this is still early in the school year, my purpose was to have students  realize that ed produces different ending sounds, not the ability of students to read and sort words independently  Therefore, we did the following activities together (whole class).
Student Resource Page to Introduce the ending sounds: /d/, /t/, and /ed/.
Individual sorting mat - Follow up on class sorting mat completed earlier as whole class
