Letter Naming and Concepts About Print
Share both Charts Below. As you point to each letter, have the child say each letter. If he/she doesn't know the letter, say it - after a few seconds.

This next activity takes a few minutes and provides information about a child's current understanding of print. Ask the child to point to the following things:
1) point to the number, 2) point to the letter that is standing alone, 3) point to the word that is standing alone, 4) point to the sentences, 5) Point to where you would begin reading the sentences. Next, point to the first set of words (fan, fantastic) and ask the child to point to the one that says fantastic. Repeat this procedure for the word cupcake.
