Activities to complete while/ after reading the book, There Was An Old Mermaid Who Swallowed A Shark

Have students cut around the rectangle.  Then have them fold along the bold line under the headings. Next, have them cut along the lines separating the categories and  stop cutting when they reach the fold.  Finally, have them past the heading section (from the fold to the top) on a page in their journals. 



Have students cut out the six pictures, sequence them and paste them under the correct heading.

 Next, create a class Venn diagram to compare the story of the Mermaid with the story,  There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books

 As a class, complete the Venn diagram

Next, have students complete  their Interactive Journal Venn diagrams

 Have students cut out and paste the Venn diagram on a page in their journals.

 Have students color, cut and paste the pictures on the Venn Diagram
