Completed Cootie Catcher Focused on Addition and Subtraction Problems

  Let's Make A Cootie Catcher
     Step 1 - Begin with a                             Step 2 - Fold Diagonally                       Step 3 - Open  and  
     square piece of paper                              and then a second time                            fold each corner   
                                                                                                                                          


  Step 4  - Flip Over and Fold                         Step 5 - All Folds                        Step 6 - Number all  
  each corner to the center                               are completed                                  the triangles
       
                                             
 Under every 2 numbers write a comment, question or fortune
Fold the comments, question or fortunes  under.  With all numbers facing up, flip over, fold 
and write four color names 
Open up and fill in the information
Have Fun - Be Creative and design different cootie catchers!

Share both Charts Below.  As you point to each letter, have the child say each letter.  If he/she  doesn't know the letter, say it  - after a few seconds.

This next activity takes a few minutes and provides information about a child's current understanding of print. Ask the child to point to the following things:
1) point to the number, 2) point to the letter that is standing alone, 3) point to the word that is standing alone, 4) point to the sentences,  5) Point to where you would begin reading the sentences.  Next, point to the first set of words (fan, fantastic) and ask the child to point to the one that says fantastic. Repeat this procedure for the word cupcake.
